Is War Just on It's Way Out?

I think there's something to that we are a highly military culture. And I know that military SF is very near and dear to the hearts of the Japanese. Jack Campbell is hugely successful over there. It seems like as the world becomes more and more economically and socially interconnected, it becomes harder and harder to imagine wars between nations.
