I Think It Was the Right Thing to Do
I think it was the right thing to do. No doubt a part of him believes that. But similarly with Truss, it would be too much to expect her to write an article in which she apologises for her economic revolution. That would end her career really. So I'm not surprised by the lack of contrition because contrition would be an admission of culpability on a kind of colossal scale. She is engaging with that internal debate. And she has powerful allies in that very limited debate within the Conservative Party. It's as if what happened in September and October didn't happen. The newspapers, the Daily Mail, the Mail on Sunday, the Sunday Telegraph were positive about the return
