The film is at the intersection of both this culture of cinema, what actors bring, and especially kid actors to the screen. I really thought about the film writing it in my mind as an anime, because it's the most democratic cinema. It was also a film about presence, and a film about sharing a fictional space with a ghost, but it's actually someone. Petit Mamo is one of the most beautiful films about being a parent and respecting your kids that I've ever seen," he says.
