The History of the Word Normal

The word normal has a more complicated store history in our lives than medicine, and it presents compelling arguments against this definition. A lot of people credit alfred kinsey, the famous sexologist, with having popularized the word 'normal' But contrary to i his efforts, he actually ended up making the word something that could be used colloquially. If you can't achieve that ideal, and as i say in the book, nobody's normal, we feel inadequate, we feel weak. We camouflage our problems, we hide our problems. And my argument in the book is that we can't change the humiliiation or the shame or the fears tough ound mental illnesses by education or awareness
