Twenty Thousand Hertz

CHAPTER

The Soundscape Approach

For windows ten matthew searched for musical patterns that were shared by different languages. The challenge was to create sounds that made sense regardless of your background or culture. This is where we really started to develop the sound scape approach and to evolve the window sonic dana. If i'm sad, i might talk slowly and monotonously. If i're excited, i'll probably speed up and speak with a melody that jumps around a lot more. A lot of the feeling and what's communicated comes from the rising and the falling and the stopping and the starting and the speeding up and the slowing down to make the sounds.
