The Evolution of the Mammalian Throat
Among the early reptiles were our ancestors, proto mammals. The gift of milk necessitated a re working of the throat and jaw. To suckle young mammals needed muscular throats and mouths. Mammalian throat bones and sls thickened, strengthened and elaborated. Primates and marine mammals are all at least in part, legacies of this sturdy and complex throat.
