The Rise and Fall of the Rap Beef

Lolita Chantay Good got her start battling traveling MCs at just 14 years old. The beef started in 1984 when the group UTFO released a song called Roxanne Roxanne about a woman who had spurned their romantic advances. When it was all done some 87 Roxanne tracks had been released. And we couldn't talk about women in hip hop without talking about how they influenced the social consciousness in rap.
