What Do You Think of Vermeer's Colours?

Vermeer uses the same pigments that are available to other Dutch 17th century artists. He also plays with overlapping colours of paint leaving under layers open in certain areas. Of course he used a huge range of colours but yellow and blue come back time and again don't they, complimenting each other in very different ways?
