Napoleon's great ambition was to fight for corsican independence against france. At 15, he becomes eligible for a year's study at the ecol militaire in paris. He is unimpressed with an education bent on nurturing gentlemanly skills over what he considers proper soldier. In september 17 85, aged 16, napoleone receives his first commission. By the age of 20, while not yet 20 years of age, that dramatic news filters back in Paris. The mob has finally cracked and they stormed an old fortress where some comrades were being detained. Napoleon records his woes in his ry, even talks of suicide.
