Narvaez and Cortez's Battles
Cortez set off at the beginning of may with 80 or so men, leaving just over a hundred behind in to nochtetlan. His men now marched in aztec cotton armor, as it was lighter and easier to carry. Cortes sent a messenger to the tlashkalans, asking them for four thousand men to help him fight narvaez. But considering their recent experience, the tlashgalans were not enthusiastic about fighting any more spaniards. Instead, they sent cortes 20 turkeys as a gift.
