Is There a Right to Plead Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity?
In 2012, the Supreme Court refused to consider whether a criminal defendant has a constitutional right to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. Idaho is one of only four states that barred defendants from claiming they were legally insane or unable to appreciate what they did was wrong. In December 2016, holy balls, he's in jail at the Idaho State Correctional Institution near Kuna in Southwest Idaho. They have him in a medium security facility and he attempts to escape. What? The situation isn't funny. No, but what he thinks is crazy. Jesus, this court should grant and hold that his case and also should rule so it abolishes this law.
