Evolutionary Search for Better AI Systems
In biology, a lot of the energy consumption is front end loaded in the sense that it happened over evolutionary time. If we could figure out how a vertebrate brain works, build in that innate structure in our systems and then do the evolutionary modeling, we might move a lot faster. The problem for now is it would require kind of replicating the whole billion years of evolution. So my suggestion is to start with points that are a little bit more sophisticated by looking at how the ibex works or how the human toddler works.
