When he was a boy, his mom bought him a book about the afterlife. She thought it would be helpful for him if he became an ordained minister one day. He refused to read it and called her a heretic because of its ideas that our true self isOur soul and our body's just a shell. Jesus Christ has revealed this so fully to us. That's why death is so horrible. Death is the separation of body and soul. Why? Because what a human person is, is body and soul together. You are your body.
