Buddhism is a tricky tradition in any comparative sketch of mysticism, many arguing that it does not belong there at all. The Buddha was famously agnostic, choosing to plead the fifth on questions of metaphysical and theological speculation. But about 600 years after the passing of the Buddha, a rather speculative school of Buddhism rose to challenge the 20 or so schools of Buddhism that were then in existence. One of the early representatives of this new philosophical school which later became known as the Mahayana tradition in Buddhism was Ashvagorsha.
