The Third Modality of Being in Actuality and Being in Potentiality

Nothing we experience in the world is the efficient cause of its own existence. Nothing exists by necessity. Nor is any reality we experience identical with all that exists, with all being. We may say that each thing receives its existence from another finite dependent thing, but we cannot plausibly posit an infinite series of such radically dependent causes. And indeed the sun at some point did not exist, and at some point in the future will not exist. Consequently, one must posit the existence of a transcendent giver of being who gives existence to all that is the creator of all things. This argument for the existence of God is much more radical than the first, and leads to a much more acute claim
