The Importance of Family Support in Bariatric Surgery
I look for a level of maturity in these patients. They have to be able to understand to what they're signing up for with bariatric surgery and understand that there will be a modification of the way they eat, which is everybody knows. A pediatric psychologist has a very important role in identifying barriers to surgery in these patients and their families. And so we will assess the not only the patient but the family situation and try to at least ensure that the proper support is there.
