Diversity in social class is critical for politics. No policy can work, however conceptually sophisticated, if you don't understand the conditions of the people who are going to have to deal with it. I think that sat behind the Trump election in America where people who are living in communities that are sometimes described as a rust belt felt that the power elites just didn't understand the challenges that they were facing. It also, to a large extent, sat behind Brexit. How explicit do we need to be about some of these biases that people often don't know they're holding?
