Modernism and Junk Space
Modernism is certainty, clarity, diagram, definiteness. He describes junk space at one point as the web without a spider. Architects could never explain space. Junk space is our punishment for their mystifications. I think actually if we were going to talk about Rem's nostalgia for modernism, that it would take in like a certain fascination with totalitarian design in fact.
