This week I battled with perfectionism, which manifested itself when I agreed to make latkes for my daughter's cultural potluck. Latkes are potato pancakes that we juice eat during Hanukkah when we fry things in oil. And of course, as you cook them in the grease, the colors change, they start to get darker. So I start freaking out about how they're burned. Then I start worrying about how the kids are going to judge me and then they're going to tell all their parents what terrible latkes they were. "I went into this weird latkes shame spiral and I couldn't pull myself out of it," Lorian says.
