The Doomerism of the Climate Emergency
I think the situation is extremely bad and so I don't, I mean, I have empathy for people that go in that direction. People start to feel like, yeah, that no one cares. And it's not true. The hope that I hang on to is about collective awakening, leading to a World War II scale climate mobilization. If you look at World War II history, we mobilized our economy and society in just a few years to transform from a consumer economy to a war economy. We did these incredible interventions such as rationing, gasoline, meat, tires, sugar and a bunch of other commodities. It was both a miracle and something that we can reproduce.
