Review of Rage by Joe Dante
Rage is one of the more downbeat offerings of recent seasons this Warner Brothers release manages to sustain a fairly consistent level of impassioned drama thanks primarily to the powerful playing of star George C Scott who also directed though awkward and excessive at times. The basic thrust of rage is so attuned to the moral outrage felt by concerned segments of the public that it carries an almost built in righteous impact less thoughtful viewers will only find it depressing. It's too close to the front pages not to be unnerving production is on the tacky side and cinematically Scott's direction is not exactly polished but he has surrounded himself with a cast cold from previous Scott successes and coaxes nuances and inflections
