"I want to apologize on behalf of straight, well-intended Christians that just work in the abstract and we don't think from the individual lives of real people oftentimes to our fault," he says. "If you want a friend that's still here next year, at some point the next year, you have to forgive that person." The first step is believing God wants us to live in community with other gay men or women who share his faith. He also suggests praying every single day for someone to show him what it means to be called to serve others.
