Andy has been looking for over 20 years, but hasn't found a single one. He doesn't need to catch the blunco blind salamander itself to know it's out there. All he needs is a clue. Scientists can take these clues, compare them to a large data base of animal diana and then hope for a match. But there's no sequence data available for this species. The dianae of the original salamander was never preserved. So even if andy finds the e dana he's looking for, he may not know it.
One of the world’s most biodiverse aquifers is full of strange, blind creatures that have evolved in isolation for millions of years. But one is missing.
