In mesopotamia there's many, many thousands of years of village life before you get to anything that look like urbanism or complex political structures. Whereas in egypt, that happens much more quickly, and from a much different kind of base. I think that's a very interesting observation. We're talking about something in the order of less than a thousand years, compared to something more like six or seven thousand in mesopotamia,. where you have village life, without any centralization, urbanization, or anything resembling a state.
