The Problem With Coerced Public Confession
As a teenager, I would squirm in my seat when somebody was brought before me to share some moral failing. It didn't seem it didn't feel like the aim was the benefit of that individual. The aims almost always are social control at the cost of the individual involved. And particularly within high control religious environments public confession is most likely to happen within those high control environments.
