The Theory of Cities and Their Growth
The urban economics as a field was revised nearly 30 years ago by a bunch of classic papers. They essentially put up an economics in the map by saying cities are about economic growth. And that basically raised the possibility that not only urbanization was happening as we get richer and people moving to cities, but also the fact that cities themselves could be responsible for some prosperity.
