The Importance of Success in the Cold War
There's a bunch of confused narratives about whether or not we actually supported people who eventually became, you know, al-Qaeda. We see it as like, man, this was just sort of something that went too far. But I do think that success is never final. They may produce a piece that lasts half a century or maybe more and it'll last forever. And so what you do in the aftermath really matters as well.
