The Importance of Early Childhood Experiences in Childcare

An emotional reaction from the child, such as being sad or crying, is completely normal. Once the mother returns, she can calm the child and modulate their negative feelings once again. In this case, one would speak of a secure attachment. The younger the child, the more important the intensive supervision of reliable caregivers. If the early attachment between parents and children is disrupted, for example because one parent is mentally ill then the child cannot internalise enough secure experiences.
