God could have done it in any form he wanted to. What God inspired was largely, if you look at the Bible, it's mostly a narrative. I personally can't imagine a greater waste of time than arguing whether the rapture is pre-trib, mid-trib or post-trib and all those things. It'd be like debating how you're going to die. Will you give you a car wreck? And if you are in a car wreck, will you go through the window first or will you be conscious before you crash the window or lose consciousness before that?"
