I think the case for handing things over to elite is pretty strong in anything that's moderately democratic, right? I don't have to be anything that's actually more democratic than the official measure of Singapore. Once we get too far below the rich democracies, I figure once you put elites in charge, they really are just going to be old fashioned, gordon-tolic rent seekers and steer everything toward themselves. So that's elite control in a democracy. A lot of elite control in any kind of democracy, I think is going to have good effects.
