The Role of Friendship in Loneliness
Alyssa Beck is an assistant professor of psychology at USC Dornsife. Preliminary data suggests that the depth or the closeness that you feel with other people is a lot more important than the number of friends that you have. People who identify as lonely are actually pretty good at driving guesses about other people's states of mind for example just by looking at a disembodied set of eyes.
