The Difference Between Thickness and Tempering

The tempering process is heating the glass up after manufacturing and then rapidly cooling it as I understand it. For most manufacturers, that's 3.2 millimeters, some glass manufacturers can fully temper 2.8 millimeters. Thinner glass goes through the same heat, heat treatment process, but it doesn't become fully tempered. That glass will break like a broken mirror, you know, in shards,. And so it would be considered heat strengthened, but not fully tempered.
