Some people just stand these complex female characters like Amy from Gone Girl and Florence Pugh's character. I think it's also worth considering who gets to be a girl failure. A lot of these girl failure examples tend to be skinny white women. What does that tell you about what kind of women are allowed to have complicated stories?
