Shankaracharya is trying to push the idea that this world is not ultimately real, not unreal also. He gives these two examples, seashell appears like silver and moon being one appears to be many. Shankaracharya: In an old adage, all that glitter is not gold. So basically that example. The other example he gives of a mistake is Eikrashchandrasat-bhiti-avad-vahatik.
