Is Ambiguity of Norms Versus Specificity of Norms Really Important?
If things are obvious around what norm needs to apply, then it's like really hard for us to like find an excuse not to do that. If situations are kind of ambiguous, or itsik, not exactly clear what kind of a norm applies, then it seems to just be a lot easier to interpret it as charitably or as selfishly for yourself as you want. What type of uncertainty is it exactly that binds? Is it around normative, or is it around like, empirical expectations? We have experiments on that actually. Yacking a new elaboray on this.
