The Importance of Negative Reactions to Ari Astor's Movies

The film is trying to speak the language of outsider art, which is really a kind of insider commodity. It's going to get it from both sides and I think that interesting writing about it will probably be writing that either less that uses love it or hate it not as the end point, but as the starting point. And my gut is that this movie will just be one more example of that, that there is just so much technique, talent and personal vision around the execution of the film.
