Miss Peralta's Third Amendment Complaint in District Court
Anoka County had adopted an unwritten policy that any time someone comes in born outside of the United States they don't follow their own procedures. Miss Peralta was driving without a Minnesota driver's license so that is obviously an offense to which she can cite her rather than simply let her go for this you know minor misdemeanor offense he decides instead to keep her detained there and then arrest her. Anoka County officials are not doing this on the basis of immigration status they're doing this strictly on the based of birthplace status right now as we know you can be born outside of America and still be lawfully present in the U.S.
