I know teachers who do this as well. In fact, I was tutoring a student for AP English and the essay assignment made them follow an exact template with actual phrase stems through the whole thing. The first thing is that whenever the AI sounded knowledgeable and erudite, there still was no soul and no personality in the writing. So my first takeaway is that formulaic writing stifle student voice and creativity. There's no hook to start the paper. This is of course where students think critically and creatively to come up with a better way to start an essay"
