Soviet Dialogue During the Cold War
A hot line was set up between moscow and washington, a direct telephone line to the kremlan. A direct telephone line was established in order to facilitate communication based on the understanding that no matter how much the soviet hunian an the united states despised each other, it was in their joint interest to maintain dialogue. Unfortunately, this remains every bit true to day. In part it was luck, certainly, but i think the soviets also came to realize that, well, if things continue like this, we'll just blow ourselves up.
