As a naturally shy person, Chantal felt incredibly self-conscious and nervous around other people. She would often hide behind her parents' legs as a young child. And I believe other people grew accustomed to speaking for me. There can be a lot of fear around being found out as well. It's kind of like a duck treading water on the outside, everything's fine, but underneath, you're just paddling like mad to get through.
