The prevalence of obesity started to rise quite sharply in the early 1980s. Most people say this genetic difference isn't huge and it can't be blamed for the obesity epidemic. But there is one big difference between people that scientists are starting to realize could be responsible for making some of us gain more weight from exactly the same amount of food.
