The Importance of Youth Centers and Youth Workers in the Community
In 2004, I lost a cousin through Knife Crime. There was a need for young people to be doing something more positive with themselves than positive with their lives. And it kind of highlighted the situation where there really needed to be going back to the roots of old-style youth centers and youth workers engaging with young people directly within the community. So, even over that 15-year period, the issues were still very real, still very alive and engagement programs and working with young people were still very much needed.
