The Mexican Revolution Is Truly Underway
Diaz resigned May 25th and he sailed for France the next day. He went to Paris where he died four years later. Gilly writes, as far as the bourgeoisie was concerned, the revolution had come to an end for the peasantry. They had done their own land reform plowing and sewing under the protection of their own rifles. With no national leaders and no overall plan without waiting for laws or decrees, the peasantry was using its social strength to solve the land question through simple and direct methods of its own.
