Microsoft's Strategy for Making Up for Lost Time

Microsoft spent $300 million to make Windows 95 a blockbuster. Bill Gates wanted users to think of Internet Explorer as a core function of the OS. The Rolling Stones were paid over $14 million to use their songs Start Me Up in the commercials. Microsoft's 8 billion or so in revenue could clearly overall Netscape's eventual 300 million annual revenue.
