The Salons of the Early Modern Period
The salon was the sort of mode for elite, and i would add moslem men, in the sixteenth century. It became a key space in which to perform that elite male status. All aspects of the sal n were really linked to this kind of the wealth of these men,. The last characteristic of salons, as i define them, is hospitality. And so each chapter takes a different perspective on ottoman salons in turn.
