The Rise of Global Imperialism

The dawn of constitutionally legitimated, innocent global imperium coincided with the erasure of settleer colonialism home and the rise of stories that americans told about themselves like a nations of immigrants. I think it's really important to recognize how these two frames of empire are fundamentally joined together. It's the settler imperial mode that lays the conditions for way in which the us. Asserts power globally in the twentieth century. And so it's not one moment in time replaced by another, but in a deep sense, the two kind of fold into one another without any kind of straight chronology.
