The Church Is at Its Best When It's Not Trying to Be Relevant

In many western cultures, we make jesus into a ceo or a political leader. And and the church has tried to be kind of celebrity. We valorize our celebrity pastors,. They're like our pop stars or our actors, er, only they love jesus. It does work at one level. It does make christianity a little bit cooler. But the problem is we often lose the gospel. I generally think the church is at its best when it's not trying to be relevant. Its it isn't. In a weird way, christianity is most eternally relevant when it ceases to try to berelevant.
