Nervous conditions is Titsi Langarembwe's latest Booker Prize-nominated novel. It tells the story of Tamudzai, a young ambitious village girl who struggles against oppression that comes with being both Black and female. Ella Wakatama asked her why Nervous conditions was turned down by publishers in Zimbabwe, before being published in the UK. She said: "There are just certain aspects of our culture where it's not about merit, it's about sex"
