Researchers found that deaths from alcoholic liver disease and drug overdoses were the most rapidly rising causes of death. All three are self-inflicted in some ways, as Anne Schulder likes to put it. There's sometimes fast to kill yourself quickly or kill yourself slowly. But it's not like a failure of the medical system. It's sort ofSelf-inflicted. So you attribute this sudden halt in progress on falling mortality rates to something you call deaths of despair.
