In 18 93, when edgar was 16, he was at school and participating in a ball game known as old sow. He was struck at the end of his spine by the ball. Afterwards, edgar began acting strangely, and his father put him to bed. While in bed, edgar calmed down and began talking. The squire gave instructions for a poultice to be put on the back of his head near the base of the brain. And that is how Edgar learned all about learning from books.
